LaBella is expanding our due diligence, investigations, and remediation team and is in search of another geologist to support our wide variety of projects including state and federal Brownfields projects, State Superfund sites, due diligence site assessments (Phase I and II ESAs), UST removal and spill oversight. Qualified candidates will have experience conducting field investigations and remediation activities, and preparing reports documenting work performed. Experience with proposal development is a plus.

Duties

  • Performing field work throughout New York State
  • Soil, soil vapor, and groundwater sampling, including soil classification/logging
  • Perform and / or supervise field activities and drilling on construction projects
  • Perform Phase II ESAs
  • Collect, record, and organize field data in a concise manner
  • Conduct data analysis and interpretation
  • Prepare maps/figures and technical reports
  • Prepare deliverables on time and within budget
  • Lead tasks within a project
  • Maintain open communication with project team members
  • Mentor junior staff
  • Represent the company in a professional manner and in line with firm's core values
  • Conduct work to professional standards and following firm's QA/QC policy

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Geology preferred, or Environmental Engineering/Science
  • 5-10 years of experience in a related local environmental position
  • 40 Hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification required
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environmental consulting team environment.
  • Ability to work within a multi-disciplined group of professionals.
  • Strong communication skills (active listening, written, and verbal)
  • Organized with strong attention to detail
  • Highly motivated, with excellent client service skills and a positive attitude
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Valid NYS driver's license, lean driving record, and reliable transportation

Competencies / Soft Skills:

  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office (word processing, database, spreadsheet) and GIS (ArcMap or ARCPro) preferred, and / or ability to learn programs with proper comprehensive training
  • Proficiency with environmental monitoring equipment such as a photo-ionization detector (PID), pumps, water quality, 4-gas, etc.

Salary Range: $60,000 - $75,000

The specific salary offered may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location.
