General Counsel

We are in search of a highly skilled and strategic General Counsel to serve as the principal legal advisor for our organization. This key role involves overseeing all legal affairs, ensuring strict compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and delivering expert legal insights to our leadership team. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of complex legal frameworks and be adept at navigating the intricacies of corporate law, while also demonstrating exceptional communication and analytical skills to influence decision-making at the highest levels of our organization.

• Legal Advisory:?Deliver comprehensive and expert legal counsel to the leadership team and various departments, addressing a diverse array of issues. This includes guidance on governance structures, ensuring adherence to regulatory compliance, negotiating and drafting contracts, navigating real estate transactions, and providing strategic advice in litigation matters.
• Compliance Management: Ensure that the organization adheres to all relevant federal, state, and local laws and regulations. This includes compliance with real estate laws governing property transactions, corporate standards that dictate ethical business practices, and industry-specific regulations that apply to our field. Adhering to these legal frameworks is essential for maintaining our integrity and operational legitimacy.
• Oversee and manage all litigation, with a focus on commercial disputes, landlord/tenant issues, and eviction proceedings.
• Lead efforts in debt collection and recovery, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and maximizing recovery outcomes.
• Advise on real estate transactions, property tax matters, and appeals.
• Debt Collection Litigation: Represent the company in debt collection lawsuits, including preparing and filing legal documents, attending hearings, and handling post-judgment proceedings.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, leases, and other legal documents.
• Contract Management:?Prepare, analyze, and negotiate a diverse range of contracts, agreements, and legal documents to effectively protect the organization?s interests. This involves ensuring that all contractual obligations are clearly defined, fulfilled, and legally enforceable. Additionally, leverage a solid foundation in financial and accounting principles to enhance the organization?s compliance and risk management strategies.

Requirements:

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to, and in good standing with, the State Bar of Georgia
• Minimum of 5 years of legal experience, with experience in real estate law, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance.
• Proven track record of providing strategic legal counsel to senior leadership and managing complex legal issues.
• Strong understanding of federal, state, and local real estate laws and regulations.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with litigation management and working with outside counsel.
