Job Description


We are seeking a strategic and results-driven EVP of Production with deep expertise in YouTube and podcast production, financial management, and operational leadership. This role includes oversight of all production activities, responsibility for P&L and budget management, and participation in a performance-based incentive plan tied to viewership, audience engagement, and revenue growth.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and execute a production strategy that balances creative excellence with financial performance.
  • Establish KPIs for production success, including viewership growth, audience retention, and monetization.
  • Ensure the company remains at the forefront of industry trends, particularly in YouTube and podcast content.

YouTube & Podcast Production Oversight:

  • Oversee all stages of production for YouTube and podcast projects, from concept to distribution.
  • Optimize workflows for maximum efficiency and alignment with platform-specific best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with industry and labor regulations, including union and non-union production requirements when applicable.

P&L and Financial Oversight:

  • Drive the financial performance of the production department, ensuring all projects contribute to the company's profitability and growth objectives.
  • Own the production P&L, developing and managing detailed budgets that balance creative ambition with financial efficiency.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities while maintaining or enhancing content quality and delivery standards.
  • Develop forecasting models to project production costs, revenue potential, and ROI for YouTube and podcast projects.
  • Regularly analyze financial performance against budgets and KPIs, providing actionable insights to optimize resource allocation and profitability.
  • Collaborate with the COO and executive team to align production operations with broader business goals, including revenue growth and cost efficiency.
  • Negotiate with vendors, contractors, and partners to secure favorable terms and ensure maximum value from external resources.

Performance-Based Incentive Plan:

  • Bonuses tied to:
    • Viewership Metrics: Subscriber growth, total watch hours, downloads, and audience retention.
    • Revenue Goals: Monetization targets, including ad revenue, sponsorships, and other income streams.
    • Operational Efficiency: Projects delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
  • Performance metrics will be clearly communicated and tracked.

Team Leadership:

  • Build and mentor a team of producers, editors, and technical staff specializing in YouTube and podcast production.
  • Ensure compliance with California's wage and hour laws, meal and rest break policies, and workplace safety regulations.

Collaboration:

  • Partner with marketing, talent, and creative teams to align production efforts with broader business goals.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with external partners, vendors, and creators.

Requirements

  • YouTube Expertise: Deep understanding of YouTube's algorithms, audience engagement strategies, and monetization models.
  • Podcast Expertise: Proven experience managing successful podcast production and distribution strategies.
  • Financial Acumen: Strong experience managing P&L and overseeing detailed production budgets.
  • Performance Focus: Proven ability to set and achieve viewership, revenue, and efficiency targets.
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years in media production, with at least 5 years in senior leadership roles.
  • Track Record: Demonstrated success in delivering high-quality YouTube and podcast productions.
  • Leadership: Strong leadership skills with a focus on collaboration and mentorship.
