Our Properties

NeueHouse currently operates across four different, but equally iconic properties in New York City and Los Angeles:

• Our Madison Square (MSQ) House is situated in New York's iconic Flatiron District, was previously home for Tepper Galleries, a well-known Manhattan auction house for international artists and collectors in the 1930s and neighbors the 69th Regiment Armory where the first International Exhibition of Modern Art was held.
• Our Hollywood House (HWD) , which sits on Sunset Boulevard, is one of LA's most celebrated buildings and occupies the original CBS Studio (the world's first structure built intentionally for broadcast). Here genre- defining artists from Orson Wells and Lucille Ball to Janis Joplin, the Beach Boys, and Bob Dylan built their legacy.
• Our Venice Beach House (VB) was once the creative home to some of the most influential creative luminaries in art and entertainment including Hal Ashby, Oliver Stone, and David Hockney, NeueHouse Venice Beach is a new work, social, and cultural hub for the Venice creative community.

The Role

Event Barbacks maintain bar operations and support bartenders before, during, and post-hours of operation. Requiring an ability to anticipate the needs of the Beverage team in both restaurant-style service and event set-up, the role will work ins fast-paced environments. As an Event Barback you are the main support for all bartenders during?the daily execution of bar setup, service, and breakdown of bar operations.?Observant and efficient, you strive to work within the team atmosphere, ensuring our members and guests receive prompt and seamless service.

Requirements

• Consistently provide thoughtful and personal service with the goal to develop a rapport with members and guests.
• Ensure the Gallery Bar and floor are set and ready for service.
• Maintain the cleanliness and always restock equipment of the bar.
• Maintain thorough working knowledge of drink menus and be able to articulate to guests in an engaged and thoughtful manner.
• Keep Bar fully stocked at all times.
• Transporting Ice to multiple levels and keeping ice levels for all bar activations
• Follow?recipes and par?guidelines to make?specialty?syrups,?juices, and garnishes.
• Check inventory?Par levels to ensure Restaurant and Event bars have adequate access to?liquor?products,?paper?materials, and? mixers?available at their disposal at all times to serve guests at the highest level of service.
• Stock?active bars?with?cold?wine?&?beer?inventory on a nightly basis
• Clear, wash and re-stock glassware?throughout shift
• Maintain correct?levels?of clean glassware at multiple bar outlets in the house.
• Maintain?bar?fridge cleanliness and defrosting of bar fridges to accurate temperature.
• Organize and has?a?detailed account of Liquor cage inventory and product placement in a highly organized manner.?
• Is able to receive and stock deliveries and place items incorrect?areas?of the House with a clear and organized approach.?
• Collect's and cleans bar mats and floor mats for nightly service.
• Familiar with Health Department standards of Sanitizing sinks, providing cleaner and water for material to be washed in?
• Have a familiarity with the Food and Drink Menu to assist bar staff with running of food tickets and drinks.
• Familiarity?with POS systems to assist Bartender?in closing?checks during busy hours, and/or assistance ringing and closing out customers during higher volume?
• Setting up and breaking down a bar with consistency, organization, and insight on a nightly basis
• Prepare all beverages to the standards of NeueHouse and our partners.
• Communicating with servers on orders to ensure delivery of drinks to members in a timely manner and alerting the Bartender & Bar Manager when running low on a particular item.
• Develop and coordinate the organization of various areas of the Gallery Bar and other F&B outlets on property.
• Competency in conversing with members, guests, and potential members regarding NeueHouse and our various programs and amenities.
• Work multiple bar activations on the property that hosts several events weekly.?
• Knowledge of craft and classic?cocktails?along with strong old-world/new-world wines.

We are looking for new team members who can demonstrate they are :

• Must be able to lift/move up to 10lbs, frequently lift/move up to 25lbs, and occasionally lift/move up to 50lbs.
• Must be 21 years of age or older and possess Food Handlers cards
• Consistently following Food & Beverage sequence of service utilizing all proper procedures standardized by Bar Managers.?
• Impeccable customer service by responding promptly to member/guest needs, soliciting feedback to improve service, and responding to all member requests (not just F&B related)
• At least 1 year of experience in a cocktail bar with a syrup, garnish setup, beer, & wine

The anticipated hourly rate for this position is $18.00 an hour.
