The Primary Therapist is responsible for conducting a variety of patient care activities as directed by the Clinical Director. This position involves managing a caseload of patients and delivering group, individual, and family therapy. The Primary Therapist will carry out psychosocial and bio-psychosocial assessments and will work alongside the Treatment Team to create the Master Treatment Plan, as well as aid in the discharge planning process. Furthermore, the Primary Therapist is mainly tasked with maintaining effective communication with families, referral sources, and other service providers as needed. This evening IOP therapist position offers the opportunity to provide therapy services outside of standard 9-5 hours, catering to the growing demand for mental health professionals with flexible schedules.
Responsibilities1. Collaborate with the Clinical Director to provide therapeutic services and interventions that are consistent with the organization's treatment philosophy.
2. Ensure that patient records are maintained in accordance with New York State and federal regulations.
3. Offer individual, family, and group therapy under the supervision of the Clinical Director.
4. Recognize factors that may hinder patients from receiving optimal treatment benefits and deliver appropriate therapeutic services to help patients and families manage their symptoms and challenges.
5. Create and execute patient treatment plans, which include coordinating referrals to specialty and social services, documenting progress notes and correspondence, and ensuring continuity of care.
6. Prepare a discharge summary upon the conclusion or termination of treatment.
7. Engage in monitoring and assessing the quality and appropriateness of patient care through supervision and participation in interdisciplinary clinical rounds meetings.
8. Generate and maintain reports and documentation related to patients, providing information as necessary.
9. Perform crisis interventions; de-escalate crisis situations with patients; assess risks of harm to themselves or others, and arrange for necessary resources.
10. Adhere to company and departmental policies and procedures, quality assurance standards, safety and environmental guidelines, infection control measures, and regulations set forth by accreditation and regulatory agencies.
11. Facilitate specialized in-service training sessions in your area of expertise for various audiences.
12. Complete mandatory annual training sessions as assigned by the organization.
13. Conduct urinalysis with patients.
14. Establish and maintain a professional network of contacts.
15. Participate in the on-call rotation as required.
16. Undertake other related duties as assigned or requested.
