The Electronics and Controls Engineer would support a Pratt Miller internal program competing in the IMSA WeatherTech Championship. This position would have both shop based and trackside responsibilities. This position would work within a cross functional team to operate, maintain, and develop the systems and their performance. An extensive background in motorsports data, electronics, and controls is a requirement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Vehicle Data and Electronic Systems
Design and integration of vehicle electronics and control systems:
Specify harness, instrumentation, and electronic component requirements
Responsible for system maintenance, device programing and setup
Develop and maintain system communication protocols and documentation
Complete necessary reporting and documentation
Maintenance and operation of vehicle control and data acquisition systems:
Trackside and shop-based analysis, optimization, and maintenance of vehicle controls and data acquisition systems
Simulation and testing of feature developments
Document requested development, integration, and feedback
Maintain a feature timeline and development plan
These control systems include, but are not limited to:
Traction control
Braking control
Clutch control
Hybrid system control
Driver feedback and dash systems
High voltage systems
Scrutineering systems
Embedded fuel/energy consumption strategies
Interaction between Chassis and Powertrain Systems
Simulation and hardware in the loop integration
Trackside / Support Execution
Race and Test Event support
Race and test event support when required
Race and testing support duties could include but not limited to:
Data review related to vehicle system and instrumentation operation
Optimization of controls system to improve vehicle performance
Telemetry monitoring for performance and reliability
Programming of data acquisition and control systems
Data downloading and distribution
Verification, maintenance and replacement of instrumentation and electronics equipment
Assisting in setup and teardown of equipment
Other various activities suited to skill set
Team Member Interactions
This role will interface heavily with a large cross functional team. Overall communication and interaction are expected to be handled in a collaborative manner for the overall improvement of performance and execution.
The role will be expected to interact with other groups within Pratt & Miller, and outside in relation to execution of duties not limited to:
Organization, participation, and collaboration in meetings
Support and project realted travel
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
In addition to the responsibilities mentioned above, tasks relating to the following area will be. assigned as required:
Support Pratt Miller initiatives, marketing events, and general development as necessary
Provide feedback on product needs and processes
Support Program Management on process developments and improvements
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Desired Education
BS in engineering or other advanced technical background
5 years or greater of Motorsports experience with a focus on vehicle electronics and controls systems
Preferred background in vehicle dynamics and controls engineering
Desired Specialized Knowledge and Skills
Advanced engineering background covered as part of duties outlined above
Motorsport data acquisition system software and hardware
Controls engineering and system development
Extensive knowledge of CAN based system programming, architecture, and operation
Operational knowledge of high voltage and hybrid systems
Experience covering a range of vehicle data acquisition system tools

Pay Range:
$78,400.00 - $121,500.00
The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
