Electrical CAD Engineer

BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems business unit is currently looking for a dynamic, results driven Electrical Analysis Engineer/Senior Engineer for Electrical Hardware development as part of the Electrical Engineering competency at our Technical Centre India in Bengaluru.

Position Summary:

In this role, and under direct supervision of the Electrical engineering Manager, the Electrical CAD engineer leads the design and development for PCB design layout of automotive electrical programs (as per achievement plans) using approved engineering processes to meet the needs of customers. Takes lead in developing and maintaining the ECAD system, managing repository and maintaining data integrity. Generating and releasing documentation for circuit board and assemblies and manage flawless release of data to other teams. Train and guide others in ECAD design and serve as a technical resource to them. Assist manufacturing with technical support during pilot runs/tests, production start-up, and existing products. Meet the department's cost and quality goals.

Educational Qualifications : B.E/B.Tech in Electrical / Electronics and communication / Automotive Electronics.

Experience: 7 to 12 years of work experience in ECAD design for Power train and/or Inverter design in automotive sector.

Major Job Responsibilities:

+ Lead in PCB layout design, generate and release documents and all related activities in the project

Maintain PCB data integrity and manage data release to corporate repository

Generate and release documentation for circuit board and assemblies and manage the data release process.

Ensure compliance to ECAD common process and design standards

Technical lead for ECAD applications. Assist or take lead in optimizing resources for ECAD support, planning and coordinating workload for all projects

Lead in the design of quality PCB layout according to corporate design standards.

Participate and work to establish best practices in PCB design wrt EMI/EMC guidelines, thermal management etc.

Collaborate with design engineers and other HW engineers to deliver the design

Interact with Mechanical CAD engineers to design compact PCBs with suitable component packaging.

Interact with global teams and counterparts to resolve any issues.

Lead in use of CAM tools to check integrity of PCB design. Simulate and check for design compatibility, robustness, noise levels, etc. according to standards.

Assist in developing and maintaining ECAD system, CAD libraries to meet project requirement

Lead in interaction with team members and PCB vendors

Lead

in continuous improvement for the ECAD team and design standards.

Participate in lesson sharing with team members

Ensure flawless PCB quality and meets the requirements of all PCB stakeholders

Meeting departmental Cost and Quality objectives

Supporting Product development life cycle.

Major Job Qualifications / Skills

Minimum 7 to 12 years experience of ECAD design.

Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electonics and Communication or Automotive Electronics domain.

Strong knowledge and expertise in layout principles, EMI/EMC design guidelines and component selection/packaging.

Familiar with high pin count BGA routing

Strong knowledge of different interfaces like I2C, SPI, USB, UART, CAN etc

Experience in using tools like Xpedition, Orcad, Allegro, Altium.

Knowledge on Mentor Expedition tool flow

Experience in High Volage layout design is a plus.

Nice to have knowledge on FMEA, Functional Safety (ISO 26262), manufacturing process and other automotive standards.
