ReelShort Publishing House is part of ReelShort, known for bringing cutting-edge storytelling to audiences worldwide. We specialize in romance content, delivering captivating stories to a broad readership across multiple digital platforms. As we grow, we are looking for a dynamic Editor who is passionate about romance to join our team.
The Editor will be responsible for guiding authors through the process of adapting scripts into full-length novels, providing creative support and editorial direction, and serving as an author's main point of contact. An ability to manage simultaneous projects and authors while working in an evolving company and a fast-paced environment is a must. A deep understanding and love of the romance genre and the ability to stay current with evolving publishing trends are essential.
Responsibilities:
- Editorial Tasks: Perform developmental and line edits. Coordinate with Head of Studio and Managing Editor regarding timeline, schedule, and potential author issues as they arise. Provide/create metadata (cover copy, taglines, keywords, etc.). Provide/create marketing materials as needed.
- Talent Development : Nurture and guide authors, helping them grow within the ReelShort ecosystem.
- Relationship Management : Build and maintain relationships with authors, acting as their primary point of contact and ensuring their satisfaction with ReelShort Publishing House.
- Market Analysis : Stay informed about trends and competition within the romance genre.
- Collaborative Role : Work closely with the content, marketing, and legal teams to support author success from acquisition to publication.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a developmental editor within traditional publishing, specifically in romance. (Publisher experience preferred. Will accept freelance editorial upon submission of list of published works.)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to identify and nurture emerging talent.
- A passion for romance novels and storytelling.
- Acquisition experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with digital storytelling trends and web novel platforms is a plus.
