Job Description

Mount Pleasant Correctional Facilities? mission is Helping People Become Their Best. To accomplish our Mission, the person selected for this position shall be able to demonstrate emotional intelligence, leadership, adaptability and empathy while working with employees, incarcerated individuals and the public.

MPCF is looking to hire a full-time Budget Analyst 2. This person will be an integral part of the MPCF Business Office responsible for all budgeting, accounting and bookkeeping of a $30 million budget.

Typical Responsibilities of this Position

  • Performs professional government budget analysis.
  • Collect and analyze budgetary and fiscal data.
  • Provide guidance on budget formulation, program operations and appropriations while advising and assisting with adherence to executive policies and legislative intent.
  • Identify financial issues, variances and program operation impact and recommends corrective budgetary action to management.
  • Provide guidance and expertise in compiling data for annual audit.
  • Complete monthly financial reports for administration.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:

1) Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in accounting, finance, or business administration, and experience equal to two years of full-time work in professional level budget analysis or fiscal management.

2) All of the following (a and b):

a. Two years of full-time work experience in professional level budget analysis or fiscal management; and

b. A total of four years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in number one), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work in accounting, finance, or business administration equals one year of full-time experience.

3) All of the following (a, b, and c):

a. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's degree in business administration or public administration; and

b. One year of full-time work experience in professional level budget analysis or fiscal management; and

c. A total of four years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in number one), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work in accounting, finance, or business administration equals one year of full-time experience.

4) Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes eighteen months of full-time work as a Budget Analyst 1.
