Position description

The UCLA Department of Public Policy is seeks applications for a part-time lecturer for Fall quarter 2025 (late September through December 2025).

We are looking for candidates to teach an introductory microeconomics course, Public Policy 201: Principles of Microeconomic Theory I. The class is the first course in a required two-course microeconomics sequence for first-year Master's of Public Policy Students. The course assumes no knowledge of calculus. Topics include: 2. supply and demand, producer behavior, externalities and public goods, and ?everyday macroeconomics.? Responsibilities include lecturing, holding office hours, and evaluating students? performance. Ability to work cooperatively with other faculty and Department staff is essential.

Master's degree or Ph.D. in Economics or a related field is required. Experience teaching similar courses is preferred.

See Table 15 Unit 18 Faculty (Pre-Six Year Lecturers) for the salary range for this position. A reasonable estimate for this position is at an annual salary range $70,295 to $83,896, which will then be prorated due to teaching workload based on appointment percentage.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications

Master degree or Ph.D. in Economics or a related filed is required. Education, training, professional experience, or other forms of proven expertise in the subject matter to be covered by the course; evidence of experience and success with teaching and other forms of presenting the relevant substantive material to audiences comparable to students taking the course.

Preferred qualifications

Experience teaching similar courses is preferred.
