Job Description
The United States Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Georgia is seeking applications from experienced attorneys who have a strong criminal prosecution background to fill two Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) vacancies in the Criminal Division. Additional vacancies may be filled using this announcement.
Type of Position: All initial attorney appointments to the Department of Justice are made on a 14-month
(temporary) basis pending favorable adjudication of a background investigation. Temporary appointment may be extended or made permanent without further competition.
Qualifications
Required qualifications: Applicants must possess a J.D. degree, be an active member of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction, in good standing), and have at least one (1) year post-J.D. legal or other relevant experience.
Preferred qualifications: Applicants should possess superior communication and courtroom skills, exhibit exceptional research and writing ability, and demonstrate strong interpersonal and professional skills. Applicants must also exhibit the ability to work with other attorneys, support staff and client agencies in a professional manner while being able to function in a highly demanding work environment.
United States citizenship is required.
Security Requirements: All initial attorney appointments are conditioned upon a satisfactory preemployment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. In addition, continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.

Salary
Assistant United States Attorneys' pay is administratively determined based, in part, on the number years of professional attorney experience.
Range of Grade and Salary:
Grade: AD 21 - 29;
Salary: $73,939- $193,394 per year, which includes locality pay. (Both locations)
