The City of Newport News is accepting applications from attorneys for a full-time position as an Assistant City Attorney or advanced level attorney.

The ideal candidate will have broad knowledge and at least 5 years' experience in local government law. The specific job duties will depend upon the successful candidate?s experience and interest but may include human resources, real estate, economic development, eminent domain, and/or workers? compensation matters.

Salary and hiring position are negotiable depending upon experience and qualifications, with an anticipated hiring range between $105,000 and $130,000.

The City provides an excellent benefits package. Must be a member of the Virginia State Bar in good standing. The position will remain open until filled.
