Job Description

ASISTANT PROSECUTING ATTORNEY-OCEANA COUNTY

Vacancy

Title: Assistant Prosecuting Attorney

Starting Salary: Starting at $73,000, plus competitive benefits package

Location: 100 State Street, Hart, MI 49420

Job Description: Under the direction f the Prosecuting Attorney: review warrant requests for appropriate charges; conduct pre-trial and trial matters in District Court (civil infractions and misdemeanors), Juvenile Court cases, and abuse and neglect cases; review search warrants; mental health proceedings; provide advice to law enforcement as needed; coordinates with other offices and agencies; other duties as prescribed by the Prosecuting Attorney.

Qualifacations: Applicant must be proficient in legal research and writing and have the ability to use common sense and make independent plea negotiation decisions within office policy parameters.

Must have a law degree from an accredited law school, be licensed to practice law in the State of Michigan, and have a valid driver?s license. Prior Criminal Law experience would be a bonus. Ability to speak Spanish would be a bonus.

This position is a full-time position that includes on-call duties.
