4th Grade Teacher

Novel Education Group is currently seeking a part-time, 4th grade teacher to work with a creative and kind student in Bel Air, Los Angeles.

As a partner of Laurel Springs School, a fully accredited online private school, we will provide all curriculum and assignments through their online platform. Your primary responsibility will involve teaching the provided materials and customizing the curriculum to cater to the individual needs of the student, ensuring an enjoyable and captivating learning experience. The objective for the upcoming year is to prepare the student to seamlessly transition back into a traditional school setting, performing at grade level and with a newfound enthusiasm for learning.

The ideal candidate for this position should possess a college degree in an Education related field, demonstrating a well-rounded perspective and a global mindset. While prior teaching or tutoring experience is essential, a formal teaching certificate is not mandatory. However, it is crucial that you are comfortable adapting to different environments, possess flexibility when working with students, and have the ability to create innovative materials and activities to sustain their engagement. Above all, we are seeking an individual who embodies qualities such as composure, a sense of fun, patience, and adventure.

Position: 4th Grade Teacher
Location: In-person at the student's home in Bel Air, Los Angeles
Start Date: Flexible position can begin anytime
Duration: 2.5 to 3 months (covering the second semester of 4th grade)
Schedule:

• Monday to Friday (5 days a week)
• 3 consecutive teaching hours per day, scheduled between 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM (exact times flexible)
• Includes 2 hours of paid prep time per week

Administrative Responsibilities:

• Update weekly student Personalized Calendars with lesson activities
• Provide monthly progress reports

Requirements

• Ability to commit to in-person instruction 5 days a week
• 3+ years of experience teaching at the elementary level
• Fun, creative, patient, and enthusiastic teaching style
• Instructional Adaptability: Comfortable teaching core 4th-grade subjects (math, reading, writing, science, social studies)
• Able to design and adjust lesson plans on the spot to meet the student's evolving needs
• Strong understanding of elementary developmental stages and learning milestones
• Comfortable using digital tools when appropriate. The student is learning through an online school
• Willing to bring or suggest engaging learning materials
• Professionalism & Communication: Comfortable providing detailed feedback on student progress and maintaining regular communication with parents
• References available upon request; willing to undergo a background check
• Comfortable working in a private home setting with a family
• Discreet, respectful, and maintains professional boundaries
