Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitor, feed, and protect all animals in your care.
- Ensure the habitats are clean, safe, and the animals are healthy.
- Keep detailed records of breeding, behavior, and health of the animals and report any issues.
- Assist veterinarians with animal care and administer medicine.
- Educate the public about animals through presentations, demonstrations, and lectures.
- Collaborate with other zookeepers and build professional networks.
- Attend talks, lectures, and seminars on animal conservation and zookeeping.
- Conduct independent research and make suggestions for improved animal care and fundraising.
- Inspire and train new staff and volunteers.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Degree in animal science, zoology, biology, or a related field.
- Previous volunteer work with animals is recommended.
- Experience working at a veterinary clinic is advantageous.
- Patience, empathy, physical fitness, and good communication skills.
- Strong observation skills and attention to detail.
