What does a Youth Pastor do?

Job Description

We are looking for an exceptional youth pastor to lead and guide the middle and high school students in our church. The main responsibilities of this role include helping students understand their spiritual journey, supporting those interested in learning about God, and helping them develop a love for Him and others. This position also involves attending school and home school events, building relationships with the education community, and providing biblical counseling to students and their families.

In order to be successful in this position, you must create a safe and welcoming environment for students where they can grow spiritually and resist negative peer pressure. We are looking for candidates who have a good understanding of the challenges young people face and who are compassionate.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Attend and participate in staff meetings.
  • Oversee and coordinate our church's youth ministry.
  • Design and evaluate curriculum for all youth programs, events, and classes.
  • Lead middle and high school students in their spiritual growth.
  • Interact with students during Sunday services.
  • Build positive relationships with students and their parents.
  • Share program plans through social media.
  • Set a Christ-like example and regularly pray for young people in the church and community.
  • Incorporate youth into various church ministries.
  • Encourage students who are interested in learning about God and His Word.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • A strong relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Bachelor's degree in theology, biblical studies, or youth ministry.
  • Previous experience in youth ministry is preferred.
  • Good understanding of the challenges and needs of young people.
  • Proficient computer skills and knowledge of social media.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Passion for working with young people.
  • Ability to lead by example.
  • Availability to work extended hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays with short notice.
