They work directly with patients and physicians, providing important diagnostic information for medical treatment.

Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled ultrasound technician to operate sonographic scanners and capture images of patients' internal organs and expectant mothers' developing fetuses. This role may involve specializing in various areas such as obstetric and gynecological ultrasounds, or performing neurological, breast, heart, or abdominal sonography. You may also assist radiologists with vascular ultrasound procedures and ultrasound-guided biopsies.

To be successful in this role, you should have excellent patient service and technical skills, as well as a strong understanding of anatomy and pathology. Problem-solving, decision-making, and time management skills are also essential.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Explain the ultrasound procedure to patients and provide support.
  • Apply ultrasound gel to the patients' body and use the scanner to capture images of the internal area being examined.
  • Adjust the scanner for the specific procedure and ensure all necessary images are captured.
  • Select which images to present to the physician for diagnostic purposes.
  • Evaluate image quality and interpret them to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating diseases.
  • Present images and preliminary findings to physicians.
  • Maintain accurate records of the ultrasound procedure and patient information.
  • Ensure the ultrasound equipment is properly maintained and the procedure rooms are sterilized.
  • Assist radiologists with vascular ultrasound procedures and ultrasound-guided biopsies.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • An associate's or bachelor's degree in sonography.
  • Industry certification may be advantageous.
  • The ability to remain focused in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical stamina to lift heavy equipment and stand for long periods.
  • Flexibility to work long shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong critical thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills, with sensitivity to patients' needs.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
