Job Description

We are looking for a reliable and skilled tractor driver to join our team. As a tractor driver, you will be responsible for driving tractors, performing maintenance tasks, and using farm equipment to plow, plant, harvest, and spray pesticides. You will report to the Farm Manager and must be comfortable working independently for extended periods of time.

To be successful as a tractor driver, you should have good concentration skills and excellent hand-eye coordination. You should also be detail-oriented and have physical strength, as well as good listening skills.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drive and maintain tractors and other farm equipment.
  • Operate tractors safely and efficiently.
  • Inspect tractors and attachments, such as graders and plows, and ensure they are well-lubricated.
  • Use tractors to transport materials and maneuver farming equipment.
  • Use tractors with laser leveling equipment to prepare fields.
  • Report any issues or concerns to the Farm Manager and other relevant staff.
  • Stay alert while driving and maintaining the tractor, and follow speed limits at all times.
  • Perform minor repairs on tractors and farm equipment.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • Completed apprenticeship or previous experience in a similar role.
  • An associate's degree in a related field may be beneficial.
  • Ability to identify and respond to potential hazards.
  • Extensive knowledge of heavy equipment.
  • Experience maintaining tractors and other farming equipment.
  • Ability to work independently, in various weather conditions, and at irregular hours if needed.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Excellent knowledge of health and safety practices.
