Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage patients' cases from admission to discharge.
- Evaluate patients' mental and physical health.
- Create customized treatment and recovery plans.
- Lead individual and group therapy sessions.
- Monitor patients' progress throughout treatment.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as psychiatrists, doctors, and social workers.
- Identify behaviors that may hinder recovery.
- Assist caregivers in managing addiction-related behavior.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Associate degree in chemical dependency counseling, or a bachelor's degree with coursework in this field.
- Master's degree in counseling preferred.
- Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) or similar certification.
- Previous experience treating substance abuse disorders.
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems, such as AVATAR, is a plus.
- Experience with co-occurring mental health and physical health issues.
- Knowledge of best practices from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
- Familiarity with drug and alcohol testing to monitor treatment plans and medical instructions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
