Job Description
We are seeking a focused specimen processor to process samples in our laboratory and respond to inquiries from clients and phlebotomists. The role involves confirming client and sample information, ensuring the adequacy and appropriateness of samples, and properly labeling and storing them. The processor will also calibrate equipment, maintain a clean workspace, and dispose of old samples. Attention to detail is crucial in this role, and ideal candidates are organized and accurate.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Verify accuracy of client and sample information
- Examine samples for adequacy and appropriateness
- Enter client and sample information into electronic systems
- Clean and sanitize work surfaces
- Label and number samples, and prepare smaller portions if needed
- Use a centrifuge to separate samples
- Dispose of samples that are more than seven days old
- Prepare samples to be sent to a reference laboratory if necessary
- Assist clients and phlebotomists with questions about sample requirements and turnaround times for tests
