Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic Social Science Research Assistant to join our research team. In this role, you will assist scientists with laboratory work, including conducting experiments, conducting interviews with subjects, processing research data, and updating databases.
To be successful as a Social Science Research Assistant, you should have a strong understanding of social sciences and the ability to use critical thinking to perform important research. You should also be highly organized and able to manage large amounts of data accurately.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Assisting lead scientists with experiments and research by collecting data, organizing supplies, and cleaning equipment.
- Reviewing published research and using the findings to create protocols for future studies.
- Managing test subjects by conducting interviews, administering tests, and recording all subject information.
- Verifying the accuracy and validity of data and correcting any errors.
- Creating graphs, tables, and reports to communicate experiment results to superiors.
- Updating the department's digital and physical database, tracking inventory, and ensuring all equipment is functioning correctly.
- Keeping the laboratory or experiment area clean, sterilized, and organized at all times.
- Writing portions of case studies, reports, and grant proposals to update research findings.
- Staying up-to-date with the latest developments in social sciences and industry changes.
Requirements and Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in a social science field, such as psychology, sociology, geography, or history.
- At least 2 years of experience as a Social Science Research Assistant in a laboratory or research facility.
- Strong knowledge of social science research methods and testing procedures.
- Familiarity with data analysis software, such as Datapine, SPSS, and OriginPro.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work accurately with large amounts of data.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to follow complex instructions and complete tasks efficiently.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
