Job Description

We are seeking a collaborative and reflective qualitative researcher to lead our research efforts. This person will be responsible for proposing meaningful research projects, securing resources, and building respectful relationships to gain access to research sites. Once granted permission, the researcher will learn about relevant phenomena.

In order to be successful, the qualitative researcher must be aware of power dynamics throughout the investigation. An exceptional researcher will strive to leave research sites in the same or better condition than they were found, according to the wishes of the participants.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Obtain ethical approval and consent from all relevant parties before beginning research
  • Study specific groups to gain a better understanding of their experiences and perspectives
  • Collaborate with participants as a respectful and engaged co-creator of knowledge
  • Consult with participants to negotiate their roles in the research process
  • Recognize unique experiences and look for patterns in research sites
  • Share and discuss insights with participants
  • Reflect on power dynamics and personal biases that may influence conclusions
  • Produce written reports with detailed findings from both the researcher and participants, if appropriate
  • Share results with the company, funders, and relevant academic communities

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant social science discipline
  • Preferably completed a doctorate program
  • Proven experience as a qualitative researcher
  • Expert knowledge of qualitative methods and approaches
  • Ability to gain and maintain access to safe research spaces
  • Strong communication skills
