We are looking for a creative photo editor to make sure our articles have gorgeous pictures. As a photo editor, you will talk to our editors, plan photo shoots, and make sure the pictures are placed nicely with the text.

To be successful as a photo editor, you should have experience in photo editing and be able to work together with the editorial team. Great photo editors are team players who make the reader's experience better with beautiful pictures.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Talking to the editorial team and coming up with creative ideas.
  • Organizing photo shoots and assigning them to in-house photographers.
  • Hiring outside photographers and talking about payment, if needed.
  • Getting permission to use photos and shoot in certain places if necessary.
  • Choosing pictures that go well with the text as envisioned by the editorial team.
  • Editing and placing pictures to go with the text in a beautiful way.
  • Showing designs to the team for approval in a timely manner.
  • Getting feedback from the editorial team and making changes when needed.
  • Keeping up with new trends and advancements in photo editing.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or associate degree in photography, visual arts, or a similar field
  • 2-3 years of experience in photo editing or a related field
  • A portfolio with examples of your work
  • Advanced skills in photo editing software like Lightroom, Photoshop, and InDesign
  • Strong creative abilities shown through beautiful photos
  • Ability to work together with others and use feedback from the editorial team
  • Experience organizing photo projects and meeting deadlines
  • Knowledge of copyright and other permissions
  • Familiarity with photography trends and technology
  • Excellent communication skills
