An OTR driver is responsible for transporting various goods, chemicals, and equipment over long distances. This job involves securing cargo, maintaining records, and assisting with loading and unloading.

Job Description

We are seeking a hard-working and experienced OTR driver to transport freight between different locations across the country. Your duties will include obtaining customer signatures, ensuring proper cargo security, and reporting any damages or issues. You will also need to properly label the truck when transporting hazardous materials or oversized cargo.

To be successful as an OTR driver, you should have knowledge of road safety regulations and be able to stay focused for long periods of time. You should also have excellent time management and organizational skills and follow all company policies and procedures.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Safely transport freight over long distances.
  • Perform truck inspections before and after each trip.
  • Plan routes to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Maintain the company truck, including cleaning and minor repairs.
  • Keep a logbook of hours, rest periods, and expenses.
  • Report any violations, accidents, or breakdowns.
  • Notify dispatcher and customer of any delays.
  • Assist with loading and unloading of freight.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • Clean driving record.
  • Previous experience as an OTR driver or truck driver.
  • Knowledge of road safety regulations.
  • Familiarity with road maps and GPS devices.
  • Ability to work long hours.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
