Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated oral surgery assistant to assist our oral surgeon with all aspects of dental procedures. Your responsibilities will include taking X-rays, preparing surgical equipment, and caring for patients. You will also be responsible for maintaining inventory and restocking dental supplies as needed.
To excel as an oral surgery assistant, you must be organized and attentive to the needs of patients. A successful candidate should have a good understanding of oral surgery procedures and excellent hand-eye coordination.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Performing administrative tasks, such as scheduling appointments and organizing patient records.
- Preparing patient charts and updating dental records.
- Operating X-ray and 3D scanning equipment for diagnostic purposes.
- Sterilizing surgical instruments and equipment according to safety protocols.
- Assisting the surgeon during procedures, including setting up the operatory and administering anesthesia.
- Preparing patients for surgery and monitoring their vital signs.
- Providing patients with information about oral health care and postoperative care.
- Managing inventory and restocking supplies as needed.
- Maintaining and caring for instruments and equipment.
- Providing exceptional patient care at all times.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Certification as an oral and maxillofacial surgery assistant.
- Certification in radiography.
- At least six months of experience as a dental assistant is preferred.
- Familiarity with surgical equipment and procedures.
- Knowledge of health and safety protocols.
- Understanding of dental records and documentation.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
