Job Description

We are seeking a skilled occupational therapist assistant to support our therapist in providing therapy treatments for our patients. Your responsibilities will include helping with treatment plans, performing tasks, documenting progress, and maintaining records. Our goal is to help individuals do the things they need and want to do through everyday activities.

To be successful in this role, you should have strong communication, teaching, and interpersonal skills. You must also be perceptive, have good critical thinking and decision-making abilities, and be able to understand others' reactions.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Evaluating the abilities of patients with physical, developmental, or emotional disabilities
  • Assisting with selecting activities and creating treatment plans to promote independence
  • Observing, monitoring, and recording progress, attitudes, and behavior
  • Maintaining a positive attitude towards patients and treatment programs
  • Instructing patients and their families in basic living skills and use of adaptive equipment
  • Assisting with dressing, grooming, and using specialized tools
  • Completing administrative tasks, such as answering phones and scheduling appointments
  • Performing routine tasks, like assisting with stretches and teaching patients how to use equipment
  • Using tools and equipment to help patients move safely
  • Designing, repairing, and modifying assistive devices

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in occupational therapy
  • License and certification to practice therapy
  • Willingness to continue education
  • Excellent communication, teaching, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Social perceptiveness and persuasion skills
  • Physical stamina to assist patients with physical activities
