Job Description
We are seeking an analytical neuropsychologist to diagnose and treat patients with neuropsychological issues. This role involves evaluating, diagnosing, and treating brain-based disorders, researching different treatments and their effectiveness, and advancing our understanding of brain-based conditions that affect cognitive, emotional, and behavioral functioning.
To excel as a neuropsychologist, you should have a thorough understanding of neuroscience, psychology, psychopathology, and research ethics. You should also be dedicated, analytical, and detail-oriented.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Conducting research and experiments to answer questions about the brain's structure and functions
- Evaluating brain functionality through experiments
- Assessing and evaluating symptoms of brain injuries or abnormal brain functioning, such as strokes, Alzheimer's disease, or dementia
- Developing experimental treatments for specific brain injuries
- Administering tests of mental faculties and coordinating PET scans, MRIs, and other scans
- Assisting patients in achieving treatment goals
- Providing advice and consultation on the development of pharmaceutical drugs that affect central nervous system functions
- Offering expert opinions and performing evaluative duties in a forensic context at legal proceedings
- Participating in conferences and seminars to stay updated on advancements in the field
Requirements and Qualifications
- A medical degree in neuropsychology and completion of a residency and fellowship program
- Valid license and certification to practice neuropsychology
- Experience working on a research team conducting drug trials is a plus
- Strong ability to work in both research and clinical settings
- Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to stay focused on tasks
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
