We are looking for a dynamic and detail-oriented music director to join our team. Your main role will be to hold auditions, create rehearsal schedules, choose music, delegate tasks, and stay updated on the latest developments in the music industry. In order to excel in this role, you should have a good understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of the musicians you work with. The ideal candidate should also possess strong creative thinking skills, be able to work within a budget, and build professional relationships with group members.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Understand the requirements and limitations of a performance and plan accordingly using available resources.
- Conduct auditions to find new talent and assign roles to different musicians.
- Evaluate the rhythm, tone, voice, and skills of each musician and have a good understanding of their individual abilities.
- Provide vocal and instrumental demonstrations when needed.
- Schedule staff meetings and provide feedback and suggestions for improvement.
- Prepare budgets and ensure that expenses are within the allocated budget.
- Select music and arrange interviews, PR opportunities, and performances for radio and television.
- Lead and supervise rehearsals and performances.
- Arrange regular maintenance for all musical instruments.
- Stay updated on the latest developments and trends in the music industry.
Requirements and Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in music may be required.
- A Master's or Doctorate degree is preferable.
- Excellent knowledge of music techniques, theory, and performance.
- Great organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Strong leadership, time management, and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to give clear instructions and make decisions under pressure.
