We are looking for a detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Monitor Technician. The main responsibilities of this role include examining heartbeat patterns, noting any abnormalities in patient files, ensuring proper functioning of heart monitors, and reporting to the medical staff in charge of the patients.
To be successful in this role, you should have strong analytical and technical skills. It is also important to have a good understanding of medical equipment and software, as well as good communication skills when interacting with patients.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Observe and interpret patients' heart monitors for any abnormalities such as irregular heartbeats, arrhythmias, and cardiac arrest.
- Attach electrodes to patients' bodies and record electrical impulses from the heart to perform EKGs.
- Use hospital equipment and medical technology to perform various heart tests, such as stress tests.
- Recognize and respond to any abnormal conditions in patients' heartbeats.
- Interpret test results and report any changes in heart readings or EKGs to the Doctor or Nurse in charge of the affected patient.
- Update patients' records with all readings taken from the heart monitors or EKGs.
- Clean and maintain heart monitors and EKG machines.
- Report any necessary equipment repairs in a timely manner.
- Assist with training new staff in medical monitoring systems.
- Deliver quality patient care services.
Requirements and Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- An EKG or Monitor Technician associate's degree, diploma, or certification may be advantageous.
- At least 1 year of experience in medical monitoring or a related field.
- CPR certification.
- The ability to remain calm in stressful environments.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
