What does a Medical Receptionist do?

We are looking for a medical receptionist who is great at organizing things and has good administrative skills. We want someone who is caring and can keep things private. They should also be good at managing their time and keeping track of important information.
A successful medical receptionist will be confident and professional, with excellent communication and people skills. They should be able to handle a fast-paced work environment and stay calm in emergencies.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Welcome patients and answer their questions in person and on the phone.
- Help doctors, staff, visitors, and patients in a professional manner.
- Keep track of supplies and equipment needed for the facility.
- Answer phone calls politely and professionally.
- Follow all rules and regulations set by HIPAA.
- Keep all information about doctors, staff, and patients confidential.
- Schedule appointments for patients to see the doctor.
- Communicate between different medical departments with care and professionalism.
- Follow all policies and procedures during work.
- Assist with patient admissions and treatment as needed.
- Make sure there is enough stock and order more when needed.
- Give patients their medical results with supervision from a doctor.
- Make accurate notes about patient visits.
Requirements and Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Must have an administrative certification.
- At least 2 years of experience working as a medical receptionist in a healthcare facility.
- Knowledge of medical terms, HIPAA regulations, and coding is a plus.
- Good at thinking creatively and finding solutions.
- Attention to detail and ability to do many things at once.
- Strong organizational, administrative, and planning skills.
- Ability to stay calm and handle emergencies.
- Respectful and able to keep sensitive information safe.
- Great at documentation, communication, and using computers.
- Passionate about giving great healthcare.
