We are seeking a skilled medical equipment preparer to join our team. As a medical equipment preparer, your job will involve installing and sterilizing equipment, performing maintenance checks, and operating specialized medical equipment. You should have a strong knowledge of medical equipment and experience working in a medical setting. Attention to detail and adherence to healthcare best practices are essential skills for this role.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Clean equipment and parts using sterile wipes, pressurized aerators, and water nozzles.
- Sterilize medical instruments using an autoclave.
- Assemble routine and specialized instrument trays and other sterilized supplies.
- Inspect and test medical equipment for malfunctions, faulty gauges, leaks, and worn or loose parts.
- Request repairs or replacements for equipment in a timely manner.
- Assist with equipment deliveries, installation, and calibration.
- Monitor supply expiry dates and stock medical carts.
- Operate specialized equipment when needed, such as respirators, oxygen support systems, dialysis machines, and laboratory equipment.
- Maintain records of equipment maintenance and sterilization tests.
- Perform other duties as requested.
Requirements and Qualifications
- A certificate in sterile processing or a related field.
- Preferably a certificate in a medical equipment preparer program.
- At least two years of experience in a similar role.
- Extensive experience in cleaning and sterilizing medical equipment and instruments.
- Advanced knowledge of installing and operating medical equipment.
- Ability to perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions.
- Familiarity with assembling specialized medical supply carts and instrument trays.
- Experience maintaining medical supply and equipment records.
- Knowledge of healthcare best practices.
- Willingness to perform other tasks as needed.
