Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receive medical items and understand instructions from the healthcare facility.
  • Safely store medical items in the delivery vehicle.
  • Ensure that all documentation matches the items being transported.
  • Make sure all documentation is accurate and trustworthy.
  • Plan the best route to the destination, taking into account traffic and distance.
  • Pick up and deliver medical items on time from healthcare facilities.
  • Ensure that recipients sign delivery receipts and verify the items received.
  • Safely deliver each item without damage.
  • Keep track of mileage and vehicle maintenance in a logbook.
  • Count and inventory medical items accurately for pickup or delivery.
  • Follow all HIPAA regulations while performing job duties.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (preferred).
  • HIPAA certification (required).
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record (required).
  • At least 2 years of experience as a medical courier (required).
  • Good understanding of medical terminology, HIPAA regulations, and medical coding.
