Job Description

We are looking for a talented lyricist to join our team. As a lyricist, your main responsibilities will include analyzing client instructions, conducting research, and using your understanding of different music genres to create outstanding lyrics. You should also be comfortable working with other artists and be able to understand what makes a hit song.

To be successful in this role, you should have a good understanding of both classic and modern lyrics and be skilled in the language you are working with. Great lyricists also have a broad knowledge of various subjects and take the time to understand the audience they are writing for.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret song specifications and understand the target audience and genre.
  • Listen to proposed melodies and determine the style, tone, and mood of the song before writing lyrics.
  • Collaborate with composers, singers, musicians, and other professionals to create a complete song.
  • Write lyrics that complement instrumentals or can be sung acapella.
  • Accept feedback from clients and make necessary revisions.
  • Ensure all your work is original and obtain copyrights for it.
  • Continuously improve your skills by exploring different music genres and attending workshops and lectures.
  • Attend festivals and events to network with other artists and writers.
  • Mentor and train junior lyricists.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • A degree in Music, Fine Art, Creative Writing, or a related field may be beneficial.
  • Strong understanding of music, poetry, and writing.
  • Excellent vocabulary and ability to write for a specific audience.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and networking skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to meet deadlines.
