A line worker is someone who installs and repairs electrical systems, including poles, cables, and equipment. They work both above and underground to ensure reliable electricity for customers.

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled line worker to join our team. As a line worker, you will be responsible for installing and maintaining overhead and underground electrical systems. This includes working on both live and non-live circuits and equipment up to 12 kilovolts. You will also be trimming trees, replacing poles, and repairing transformers, insulators, and lightning arresters. In addition, you will be expected to respond to emergency calls and customer complaints, as well as train apprentices and assistants.

To be successful in this role, you must prioritize safety at all times. We are looking for applicants who are highly skilled, knowledgeable, and detail-oriented.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and make emergency repairs to overhead and underground electrical systems.
  • Set up and secure power, security, and street poles.
  • Install primary and secondary lines.
  • Identify and fix cable faults to restore power.
  • Maintain the integrity of electrical distribution systems.
  • Install metering equipment.
  • Place underground transformers and switches.
  • Keep accurate records of work, including work orders.
  • Respond to emergency calls.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Completed coursework in electricity.
  • Journeyman Lineman certification.
  • Certification as a backhoe operator.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a line worker.
  • Valid commercial driver's license.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Available to work shifts, evenings, weekends, and holidays with short notice.
  • Physically strong and agile.
  • Able to work at heights and in adverse weather conditions.
