Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled journeyman lineman to join our team. Your responsibilities will include installing and repairing power lines, installing electricity meters, and inspecting power lines for any issues that need to be fixed or replaced. As a journeyman lineman, you should have extensive experience in this field and the ability to work independently. We are looking for someone who is dedicated to providing safe and reliable power supply to our customers.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Install power lines between power plants and homes or buildings
  • Read and understand electrical wiring diagrams
  • Repair and maintain underground and overhead electrical cables by digging trenches or climbing poles
  • Install electricity meters at residential homes and buildings
  • Perform inspections to prevent power outages and replace or repair components as needed
  • Remove any hazards near live power installations, such as tree branches
  • Troubleshoot power outages and fix any issues with electrical lines and wires
  • Respond to emergency call-outs and make repairs in a timely manner
  • Keep supervisor informed of progress, obstacles, and concerns
  • Follow safety standards and company/industry regulations at all times

Requirements and Qualifications

  • One-year certificate in electrical repair or a similar field
  • Completed apprenticeship under a senior journeyman lineman
  • At least 2 years of work experience in a related role
  • Familiarity with climbing gear, digger derricks, aerial lifts, backhoes, tensioners, pullers, and cranes
  • Extensive knowledge of federal safety regulations, including OSHA guidelines
  • Understanding of wiring diagrams and electrical/building codes
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Availability to make repairs outside of regular business hours
