Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Talking with patients to understand their symptoms and health concerns
- Diagnosing and treating both short-term and long-term illnesses and conditions
- Prescribing medication and other specialized medical care to help patients recover
- Explaining procedures and test results to patients
- Monitoring patients' progress and making changes to their treatment plans as needed
- Providing advice on health and wellness, including diet and disease prevention
- Administering vaccinations to prevent diseases
- Keeping detailed records of patients' appointments and treatments
- Referring patients to other specialists if needed
- Supporting and advising patients receiving long-term care

Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in biology, physical sciences, or a related field
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree
- 3-7 years of training in internal medicine through internships and clinical residencies
- Passing the Internal Medicine Certification Examination
- Certification by The American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM)
- Active medical license in the state of practice
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong research and analytical skills
