Job Description
We are looking for an experienced hospice aid to provide kind and compassionate care to elderly and terminally ill patients. Your duties will include talking and listening to patients, helping with personal hygiene, and providing regular bedside care to make sure they are comfortable.
To be a successful hospice aid, you should be caring and understanding, have experience working with older adults, and have basic medical training such as First Aid. You must also be comfortable discussing death and end-of-life concerns with patients and their families.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Assisting with personal hygiene, such as bathing, grooming, and getting dressed.
- Feeding and making sure patients stay hydrated.
- Shopping for and preparing meals, and doing some light housekeeping.
- Changing bed linens regularly for cleanliness.
- Talking or reading to patients during bedside visits.
- Helping with administrative tasks like bills and legal documents.
- Ensuring patients are comfortable and pain-free in their final days.
- Communicating sensitively with patients and their loved ones about end-of-life issues.
Requirements and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification as a home health aid and at least 2 years of experience as a hospice aid.
- Ability to take vital signs and keep accurate records.
- Communicating changes in symptoms to medical team.
- Knowledge of infection control and hygiene practices.
