Job Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented person to join our logistics department as a freight handler. Your main responsibilities will include moving goods to designated storage areas, keeping records of the goods, and assisting with the loading and unloading process.

To be successful in this role, you should have experience in handling goods and knowledge of safety procedures. We are looking for someone who is organized and can contribute to efficient freight handling practices.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Load, unload, and move goods as directed.
  • Coordinate with other workers using radio communication.
  • Scan and document goods, and label them with identifying information.
  • Use specialized machinery, such as forklifts and pallet jacks, to move goods.
  • Stack goods in designated areas using boards or pallets.
  • Protect goods from damage by using padding and straps.
  • Follow weight restrictions and use slings and hooks to stabilize and guide lifted goods.
  • Keep records of the number, location, and condition of goods handled each day.
  • Perform safety checks on equipment and follow safety regulations.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Preferably certified to operate a forklift.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a freight handler in a similar industry.
  • Proficiency in Warehouse Management Software (WMS), such as IntelliTrack and mobe3 WMS.
  • Experience coordinating the movement of goods within a storage facility.
  • Ability to keep accurate records of goods and their locations.
  • Advanced skills in operating specialized machinery and preventing damage to goods.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook Express.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and ability to promote a safe work environment.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
