Job Description

We are looking for a knowledgeable forensic scientist to join our team. This person will respond to crime scenes, review reports, and provide their expertise. They will also lead teams and conduct independent investigations. This role requires managing and preserving crime scenes until other experts arrive, as well as testifying in court and preparing reports.

To be successful in this role, you should use your knowledge to make informed decisions. We are looking for candidates who can handle multiple tasks, work under pressure, and communicate effectively.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responding to crime scenes and conducting investigations
  • Taking photos and videos of the crime scene
  • Collecting and documenting physical evidence
  • Attending autopsies and gathering evidence
  • Creating sketches of the crime scene
  • Analyzing evidence in the lab
  • Preparing reports and providing expert testimony in court
  • Reconstructing and explaining events
  • Mentoring and supervising less experienced staff
  • Maintaining and testing equipment

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in forensic science, natural science, or a related field
  • At least 3 years of experience in a forensic laboratory
  • Experience giving expert testimony in court
  • Knowledge of bloodstain pattern analysis and crime scene reconstruction
  • Must pass a criminal background check and polygraph examination
  • Able to handle unpleasant tasks, such as working at major crime scenes
  • Valid driver's license
  • Available for travel and to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays
