What does a Fashion Merchandiser do?
A fashion merchandiser is someone who helps decide what clothing and accessories will be sold in a store. They work in retail clothing stores, costume shops, and fashion companies. Their job is to figure out what is popular in fashion, plan how the store will look, buy clothes and work with designers.
Job Description
We are looking for a creative fashion merchandiser to join our fashion retail team. As the fashion merchandiser, you will plan and organize the layout of our stores in different locations, work with local designers and suppliers, and use your knowledge of fashion trends to create designs.
A good fashion merchandiser should know about the newest fashion trends, be good at working with others, and be able to combine both marketing and fashion design skills to make sales.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Look at the latest fashion trends, what people are buying, and who our customers are.
- Create displays that will catch the attention of our customers and fit with the latest fashion trends and our budget.
- Make a plan and budget for how our stores will look each month.
- Plan, organize, and make sure the store layout looks good.
- Buy clothes and accessories that fit with our designs.
- Work with designers, suppliers, and distributors to make sure things are done on time.
- Talk with the marketing team about advertising and promotions.
- Go to fashion shows, trade fairs, and meetings for our company.
- Meet with the Sales Manager to talk about how much we are selling and what customers are saying.
- Make sure our stores have enough supplies and clothes for the displays.
Requirements and Qualifications
- A degree in fashion design or merchandising.
- Experience working as a fashion merchandiser or visual merchandiser.
- Skills in using Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Good knowledge of the newest fashion trends.
- Great communication and people skills.
- Able to make original and attractive designs that our customers will like.
- Good at managing time and staying organized.
