What does a ER Nurse do?

Emergency room (ER) nurses are highly trained medical professionals who help doctors in emergency situations. They are responsible for assisting doctors, performing minor medical procedures, and treating patients who are critically injured or experiencing a medical emergency.

Job Description

We are searching for compassionate and organized individuals to work as ER nurses. These nurses are the first ones to respond to patient injuries, trauma, or allergic reactions. They must always be prepared to handle emergencies, assist doctors in providing medical care, and maintain high standards of nursing.

In addition, ER nurses must remain calm under pressure, make sound decisions, and be attentive to patient needs.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Be ready and equipped to handle any medical emergency.
  • Quickly assess patient needs.
  • Treat critical injuries, allergic reactions, and trauma.
  • Perform minor medical procedures.
  • Clean wounds.
  • Draw blood.
  • Maintain emergency room care standards.
  • Assist with insurance paperwork.
  • Ensure an efficient patient check-in process.
  • Make sound decisions in emergency situations.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) certification and Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) certification are a plus.
  • Able to work well under pressure.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
