What does a Endodontist do?
Endodontists are dental specialists who focus on diagnosing and treating problems with the tooth pulp, nerves, and tissue surrounding the tooth root. They are experts in performing procedures such as root canals, endodontic surgery, and apicoectomies.
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and experienced endodontist to diagnose and treat patients with dental issues involving the inside of the tooth. This may include performing intentional replantation procedures, providing post-surgery care instructions, and prescribing pain medication. It is also important for the endodontist to maintain relationships with other dental professionals.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Reviewing patients' medical history and discussing their symptoms
- Using specialized tools and x-rays to determine the cause of oral pain
- Creating treatment plans based on the diagnosis
- Performing root canal treatments to remove damaged or infected tooth pulp
- Performing endodontic surgery to clean and treat damaged root surfaces or bone
- Conducting apicoectomies to address persistent inflammation or infection around the tooth
- Maintaining previously treated teeth
- Replanting knocked out teeth
- Documenting patient progress and treatment plans
Requirements and Qualifications
- Doctor of dental surgery (DDS) or Doctor of dental medicine (DMD) degree
- Completion of a post-doctoral residency program in endodontics
- Valid license to practice dentistry
- Certification through the American Board of Endodontics (ABE) is preferred
- Previous experience as an endodontist
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Good hand-eye coordination
- Empathetic and patient demeanor
