Job Description
We are looking for an experienced electrical estimator to determine the cost of electrical installations for industrial and residential projects. Your responsibilities will include estimating project duration, researching market prices for materials and equipment, and communicating with clients to understand project scope. You should also be able to identify ways to improve cost-estimating procedures to ensure accurate project costs.
To be successful in this role, you should have a keen attention to detail and a strong understanding of electrical codes. You should also be able to read building plans and have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Analyzing blueprints to determine wire lengths and appropriate placement of outlets according to electrical codes.
- Determining the necessary materials and fixtures for each project and their costs.
- Estimating the required labor for each project.
- Assessing project profitability to assist with bidding decisions.
- Suggesting solutions to increase project profitability.
- Submitting competitive bids in a timely manner.
- Updating cost databases to reflect current material and labor costs.
- Evaluating labor and material costs to decide between in-house construction or subcontracting.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Completed postsecondary education in electrician training.
- Bachelor's degree in construction science, engineering, construction management, or related field is preferred.
- Certification through the American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE) or the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE) International is a plus.
- Valid electrician?s license.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
