What does a Electrical Drafter do?
An electrical drafter, also known as an electrical designer, is responsible for designing the layouts and wiring diagrams for electrical systems. Job Description
We are looking for a skilled electrical drafter to join our company. As an electrical drafter, you will meet with clients and engineers to determine project specifications, design technical wiring blueprints, and oversee the installation and construction of electrical systems.
In order to be successful in this role, you should have strong math skills and pay close attention to detail. It is also important to have a thorough understanding of various electrical systems and be able to problem-solve effectively.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Meet with clients and engineers to determine project requirements
- Conduct site studies to understand power needs and functional requirements
- Create technical wiring and power layout diagrams and specification sheets
- Estimate required power generation and consumption
- Calculate necessary materials and equipment
- Generate technical documents, installation guides, and user manuals
- Ensure electrical plans comply with regulatory and safety requirements
- Oversee installation and construction of electrical systems
- Inspect and test installed systems for functionality and safety
- Resolve any planning issues and find effective solutions
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical drafting, drafting design, electrical engineering, or similar field
- At least two years of experience as an electrical drafter
- American Design Drafting Association (ADDA) certification preferred
- Proficiency in CAD software, such as AutoCAD, Revit, and SolidWorks
- Thorough understanding of various electrical generation and transmission systems
- Knowledge of electrical safety regulations, building codes, and health standards
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal and management abilities
- Ability to stay up to date with developments in electrical systems and best practices
- Effective communication and collaboration skills
