An ED tech is a healthcare worker who helps emergency room (ER) doctors and nurses provide medical care. They keep the ER clean and organized and assist with basic patient care. This job is also known as an emergency department technician, ED technician, ER technician, or ER tech.

Job Description

We are looking for a friendly ED tech to help our hospital's emergency department (ED) run smoothly. Your main responsibilities will include keeping the ED clean and organized, and making sure we have enough medical supplies like bandages and gauze. You will also be responsible for communicating with medical staff, patients, and visitors.

To be successful in this job, you should be able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and be sensitive to the needs of people in distress. We are looking for candidates who are caring, hard-working, and physically fit.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Helping the ED run smoothly and efficiently.
  • Managing communications at the nurses' station in the ED.
  • Assisting with registering patients at their bedside.
  • Keeping accurate medical records.
  • Monitoring and restocking supplies in the ED.
  • Gathering patients' personal items and keeping them safe.
  • Assisting with moving and positioning patients for medical procedures.
  • Cleaning and dressing wounds, and applying splints.
  • Monitoring patients' breathing and heart rate, and performing EKGs.
  • Transporting patients around the hospital using stretchers and wheelchairs.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • BLS or CPR certification.
  • Completion of an orientation program.
  • Good computer and typing skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong people skills.
  • Physically strong, agile, and coordinated.
  • Able to work different shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
