Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced dog trainer to conduct training sessions with clients' dogs. This includes one-on-one and group sessions. The dog trainer's responsibilities include evaluating each dog's personality and progress, as well as teaching clients how to reinforce good behavior. They should also be able to answer questions about training, behavior, boarding, and pricing.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Meet with clients to discuss their dog's behavior and training needs.
- Identify any additional behavioral concerns and communicate them to clients.
- Create training plans for each dog and track their progress.
- Teach dogs basic commands using appropriate training techniques for their individual personalities.
- Address and resolve problem behaviors, such as aggression, separation anxiety, hyperactivity, and biting.
- Maintain a clean and organized training area.
- Teach clients how to maintain their dog's learned behaviors at home.
- Schedule training appointments, confirm bookings, and follow up on overdue payments.
Requirements and Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Certification through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT) is a plus.
- Knowledge of dog training techniques, animal behavior, and body language.
- Previous experience working as a dog trainer.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills.
- Effective communication skills.
