Job Description
We are looking for an experienced crime scene investigator to join our police department. As a successful candidate, your responsibilities will include securing and processing crime scenes, examining and preserving evidence, operating forensic and digital equipment, preparing reports, and testifying in court about your findings. You will work with a team of investigators and report to a senior investigator.
Successful candidates should have a Bachelor's Degree in forensic science and prior experience in a law enforcement office or related field. Good observation skills and a dedication to serving your community will be important for this role.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Make sure that crime scenes are properly secured to prevent contamination and tampering.
- Identify, collect, and carefully package evidence from the crime scene, such as weapons, fingerprints, fibers, DNA, and other biological material.
- Take photographs, video footage, and sketches of the crime scene for future reference.
- Transport evidence to the laboratory for further analysis.
- Document evidence and create detailed reports.
- Give testimony in court about the evidence collected.
- Be able to work independently as well as with a team of investigators.
- Follow established protocols and procedures.
- Participate in training and exercises to improve skills and knowledge.
Requirements and Qualifications
