We are looking for a caring and committed Correctional Treatment Specialist to help inmates gain the skills and knowledge they need to reintegrate into society after being in prison. In this role, you will provide counseling and education to inmates, as well as attend parole meetings and write character reports to determine if an inmate is ready to be released.

To be successful in this position, you should be empathetic, emotionally stable, and able to work with challenging personalities. A great Correctional Treatment Specialist is approachable yet firm, offering guidance and support to ensure the system runs smoothly.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Observe inmate behavior to assess their readiness for parole.
  • Provide career and life counseling to prepare inmates for their release.
  • Assist inmates in creating education and employment plans for their future.
  • Review case files and incarceration reports to understand inmates' behavior.
  • Help inmates find educational programs after their release.
  • Collaborate with Parole and Probation Officers to discuss inmates' progress.
  • Interview inmates and write reports to determine their eligibility for parole.
  • Support soon-to-be-released inmates with daily tasks.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in behavioral science, psychology, criminal justice, or a related field.
  • Certification in rehabilitation counseling.
  • Prior experience as a Correctional Treatment Specialist.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read body language and emotions.
  • Compassionate and patient demeanor.
  • Comfortable working with inmates in a prison or correctional facility.
  • Advanced interviewing skills.
