We are looking for a hard-working and experienced commercial fisherman to join our team. Your responsibilities will include catching a variety of fish and other marine life, preparing them for sale, inspecting for defects, and unloading them from the vessel. You should also be able to make minor repairs to fishing gear and equipment as needed.

To be successful in this role, you should be physically fit and have experience operating complex fishing equipment. You should also have excellent communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan fishing operations by considering factors like weather, sea conditions, and potential fishing grounds.
  • Use fish-finding equipment to locate fish and other aquatic animals.
  • Set up nets, fishing lines, traps, and dredges to catch fish and crustaceans.
  • Measure caught fish to ensure they meet legal size requirements and release any illegal catches.
  • Clean, sort, and store caught fish in refrigerated or ice-filled holds.
  • Operate machinery to hoist captured fish onto the vessel.
