Job Description
We are seeking an efficient and attentive barback to join our team and provide prompt and seamless service to our customers. The ideal candidate will assist in maintaining cleanliness of the bar, preparing garnishes, restocking necessary items, and supporting the bartender to ensure efficient operations. They should also have knowledge about our menu items and be able to provide excellent service in a fast-paced environment.
To be successful in this role, the barback should have a passion for working in a team and delivering exceptional drinks and service to customers. They should also be reliable, perceptive, and have excellent communication and time management skills.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Assisting with opening and closing duties such as restocking garnishes, ensuring clean towels and glassware for bartenders.
- Keeping the bar well-stocked with ice, liquor, wine, and beer.
- Checking and maintaining proper functioning of taps and appliances, and making minor repairs or changing kegs when necessary.
- Maintaining cleanliness of the bar by wiping surfaces, sweeping and mopping, removing dirty glassware, and emptying trash.
- Learning about menu items and memorizing cocktail recipes.
- Taking orders, preparing drinks, bussing tables, opening tabs, and processing payments during busy hours.
- Interacting with customers, answering questions, and handling complaints.
- Maintaining records and reporting levels of usage to assist in reordering and ensuring proper storage of items.
Requirements and Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Additional experience, education, training, or certifications may be preferred.
- Must be of legal age to serve alcohol.
- Possess a friendly and professional demeanor with a neat appearance.
- Knowledge of menu items, including beers, wines, cocktails, and liquors.
- Basic math and computer skills.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle tense situations calmly and professionally.
- Observant and detail-oriented.
- Responsible and punctual.
- Able to meet physical demands of the job, including walking, standing, or lifting heavy items, and working nights, weekends, and holidays.
